sour grapes vs lemonade
SPOILER ALERT! If you have not yet seen the finale of I Know My Kid’s A Star and don’t want to have it ruined for you, do not read on!!!
Ok, let’s talk about this finale. Since the beginning, I have enjoyed both Cheyenne and McKenzie. I have always loved Shannon. Helene, I could take or leave. In the past few weeks, however it has become clear to me that although Cheyenne undeniably has some acting chops, it seems as the weeks went on she got more and more artificial and pretty cocky for such a young thing. On the other hand, McKenzie has taken every note, every critique to heart and really stepped up her game. She has still held on to who she is and that she is still just a kid. Both mothers are the main reason behind this. Helene became so toxic and negative towards everyone and everything, whereas Shannon just loved her daughter. That’s it. Love and support. And grits.
It was sad to see Mary Jo and Pam (aka “Mary Kay”) go. Mary Jo was just beginning to grow on me. Hopefully they are indeed making their way downtown.
I’m not gonna talk about the final performances much. They were both cute enough. They both sang songs that were not really age-appropriate. McKenzie has a really nice voice. Cheyenne screamed out some Whitney. People think that children screaming equals great singing. Not always.
My favorite quote of the episode?
“I can sum up Cheyenne’s brand in 3 words - young Beyonce”
-Helene.
I really hope they do a reunion show. I miss Rocky.

I miss Rocky too! Girl was crraaaazy, and fun to watch.
You Beyonce my ass–get real Helene. She looked a medieval maid in that dress. And sister’s hair was a mess after that makeover.
